Talking Pride With BC Students

I’m heading out in a couple of days on the BC Book Prizes Tour! I’ll be visiting grade 4-7 classes at schools in Harrison Hotsprings, Kamloops, Revelstoke, Castlegar, Nelson and Rossland. So excited to talk about my Pride book with more kids and teachers across the province: It is always encouraging to see the work that schools are doing to create safer, more inclusive spaces for all their students, and so inspiring to meet the young people who so often lead the way when it comes to making change. I’m travelling with Jen Sookfong Lee, author of The Conjoined, and we’re doing a public reading at the public library in Nelson on Wednesday evening, April 12- so if you are in that part of the world, please do come out and say hello!

And tomorrow I’ll be at the LOVE IS LOVE Youth Pride Conference. This fantastic youth-run event is in its third year, and it’s going to be a great day. It’s free and open to all Victoria-area youth. You can sign up on their Facebook page. I’ll be doing some workshops on writing LGBTQ teen fiction. Can’t wait to meet more wonderful young writers!
